Credit Karma Teams Up With Intuit Financial Services to Bring Free Credit Scores to Financial Institutions
More than a dozen credit unions and partners nationwide are increasing their member benefits amidst rocky shifts in the banking industry. NorthCountry FCU is the latest to launch Credit Karma’s Free Credit Score for Members Services, exclusively offered to members through their online banking site powered by Intuit Financial Services.
With NorthCountry FCU as Credit Karma’s first Intuit-powered partner, Credit Karma is certified to work with Intuit Financial Services clients to provide the Free Credit Score Service within the financial institution’s branded environment. The Free Credit Score for Members Service gives consumers a monthly credit score and a suite of personalized credit management tools to better manage their credit.
Additionally, Intuit’s Digital Insights online banking system offers a single sign-on solution for the Free Credit Score for Members Service. Single sign-on’s streamlined user experience creates easy access to Free Credit Score for Members’ Service features, and encourages active engagement within the online banking environment.
The value of offering free credit scores continues to grow for consumers and financial institutions alike. Since Credit Karma launched the Free Credit Score for Members Service in September of 2010, nearly 500,000 credit union members can access their free credit scores. For example, UW Credit Union, Credit Karma’s first credit union partner, reports an adoption rate of more than 25% amongst members, making it the most widely adopted addition to their online banking service.
In an interview with the Credit Union Times, Bob Morgan, Executive Vice President of Lending, at NorthCountry FCU, shared their perspective on a key value of the service.
“The ability to forecast the effect of opening new credit, paying off a balance, or missing a payment can help (members) avoid costly consequences, such as higher interest rates or loan denials. My Credit Score (NorthCountry’s branded name for the service) lets members test credit decisions in a virtual environment, and then decide how to proceed,” Morgan stated.
Credit Karma will continue to team up with Intuit Financial Services to give free credit scores to financial institutions and provide consumers the tools and knowledge to better manage their credit.
